Durham Alliance Combination League: Dean doubles up to seal Hall Farm's revenge mission joy

Thumped 4-0 in the league, Hall Farm must have had reservations over a quick return to Blackhill & Ebchester.

But they produced one of their best displays of the season so far to finish good 4-1 winners.

Dean Smith bagged a crucial double, with star man Josh Tuckwell and Scott Seldon also on the scoresheet, while Stephen Agnew replied. Michael Hannant shone for Blackhill.

Sub Jordan Nicholson capped a man-of-the-match performance with a clinical hat-trick to steer Durham City Reserves home 4-2 against West Auckland Tuns.

Daniel Knowd also struck for City, with Ashley Noble and Paul Jordan firing the consolations. Jordan Maughan stood out for West.

Bishop Auckland Reserves saw off Gateshead Stone Trough 4-2, with star man Scott Winterburn scoring.

Adam Lee-Shield, sub Liam Bain and Marcus Pinder also notched for Bishops.

Sherburn Village WMC saw their cup ambitions wrecked by impressive visitors Stockton Churches Portrack, who claimed a 3-1 success.

Jamie Taylor notched for Sherburn, who had Daniel Johnson red-carded.

In the only league match, Wheatley Hill WMC moved back into top spot on the back of a 3-1 success at Billingham.

Man of the match Lee Westgarth, Tony Hewitt and David Jackson netted as Wheatley secured a third league win.

Meanwhile, Wallsend Town have resigned from the league, taking the number of clubs down to eight.
