Durham Under-17s suffered a heavy 103-run defeat against Yorkshire in the ECB U17 County Cup.

The Tykes won the toss and chose to bat, posting a daunting 255-6, Harry Brook hitting 128 from 147 balls.

Boldon`s Laurence Wood was the pick of the bowlers, bagging 4-56, while Josh Coughlin and Cameron Grimwood also struck.

Durham got off to a bad start in their reply when skipper Alex Simpson was dismissed for just two, after facing 11 balls, shortly followed by Cameron Grimwood being run out for five.

Edward Hurst (46) and Matthew Gill (21) steadied the ship but could not get Durham over the line. Scott Steel, batting at nine, added a brilliant, unbeaten 47 from 41 balls, but the visitors fell well short on 152-7 in their 50 overs.
