GRAHAM Onions seems unlikely to be available for the final Investec Ashes Test after breaking a finger on Durham duty.

Onions narrowly missed out on selection for the fourth Test on his home ground and now faces a struggle to retain his place in the squad when the sides meet in the series finale at The Oval on August 21.

He broke the little finger of his right hand attempting to claim a caught and bowled against Scotland in a Yorkshire Bank 40 clash on Sunday and is rated by the county as uncertain to be fit for the LV= County Championship match against Surrey which begins one day after the Test match.

Durham have made one inclusion to the 14-man squad for today’s day-night Yorkshire Bank 40 match against Essex at Chelmsford, with paceman Jamie Harrison making the trip.

A win for the Dynamos would almost guarantee a semi-finals berth with matches against Derbyshire (Derby, August 15) and Surrey (Emirates Durham ICG, August 26) to come.

H Ben Stokes is included in the England Lions side that will take on Australia in a two-day game at Northampton later this week.

Eoin Morgan has been appointed as captain of an experimental team, with three Lions debutants – Keith Barker, Luke Wells and rookie Alex Lees.

The Lions stepped in to play after Northamptonshire secured their place at the T20 finals day at Edgbaston.

England Lions Team: EJG Morgan (capt), MM Ali, GS Ballance, KHD Barker, JC Buttler (wk), JAR Harris, SC Kerrigan, AZ Lees, LE Plunkett, BA Stokes, LWP Wells.
