Scott, Broom blaze trail as Horden youngsters outgun South Hetton

ADAM Scott took four wickets for the loss of just one run to help Horden to a 97-run success against South Hetton in the Benfield DCB Under-15 League’s South East Division.

Lewis Broom weighed in with four wickets for four runs as South Hetton were sent back for 16, having seen Adam Hall (32) lead Horden to 113-4.

Elliott Leslie’s undefeated half-century earned Seaham Harbour a total of 116-4 before they bowled well to keep Easington down to 76-5.

Castle Eden (98-5) held off Peterlee (85-5) to win by 13 runs in their derby, helped by Reid’s unbeaten 30.

In the Central Division, Scott Steel and Aynsley Pears both made unbeaten half-centuries as Durham City posted a match-winning 130-4 before restricting Philadelphia to 68-2, featuring Andrew Teasdale’s 31 not out.

Josh Coughlin’s unbeaten 32 helped Hetton Lyons to 77-2 in reply to Burnmoor’s 77-6, in which Blunt hit a brilliant 52.

Josh O’Brien’s unbeaten 50 steered Chester-le-Street home by eight wickets against Sunderland, for whom Brigham’s tremendous 51 not out helped them make 91-3.

Robson starred with bat and ball as Wearmouth enjoyed a comfortable derby success against Hylton in their North East Division clash.

He hit 34 runs in Wearmouth’s 108-5 and then took six wickets for just 12 runs as Boldon struggled to 55-9, restricted by Gateshead Fell’s accurate bowling, including Armstrong’s haul of 3-15. Bhamra (29 not out) then hurried Fell home on 59-1.

Sneller took 3-10 and stroked an unbeaten 47 as Marsden overwhelmed Bill Quay by 10 wickets.
