The North East Premier League Under-21s outgunned the Northumberland & Tyneside Senior League in the Under-21s Inter-League competition.

Skipper Lee Henderson lost the toss and the NEPL were put into bat at Shotley Bridge.

Daniel Anderson and Ben McGee opened the batting, with the former top-scoring on 63 from 80 balls, backed by 60 from Josh Coughlin while Luke Henderson (25) and Reece Carr (26) offered good support in a 40-over total of 243-8.

Callum Barnes was the pick of the bowlers for the home side, bagging 3-23 while Joe Gibson took 2-39.

The NTSL got off to a bad start when both openers fell early, scoring just one between them.

Whitburn’s Mark Elliot starred for the Premier League with 4-13 from just six overs, while Alex McGrath picked up 2-20.

Cameron Grimwood and Reece Carr both forced run-outs, while Chester-le-Street’s Connor Pattinson bagged the final wicket, as the NTSL were all out for 92 in 23.1 overs.

The NEPL now have a home semi-final to look forward to, with the opposition still to be confirmed.
