Hetton Lyons opener Gary Scott and Chester-le-Street paceman Mark Turner have signed to join North East Premier League rivals Felling for next season.

Sunderland-born Turner has taken 33 league wickets for Chester this season, while fellow former Durham County player Scott has rattled up almost 4,700 runs in six seasons with Lyons, with a best of 150, from just 57 balls, against Tudhoe in the T20 this summer.

Scott, also born in Sunderland, was with Durham from 2001-08, becoming the club’s youngest ever first-class player at 17 in 2001, while Turner had two seasons at Durham from 2005-06 before moving on to Somerset and Derbyshire.

Scott and Turner are both leaving Premier Division cricket to join Felling’s push for promotion from Division One.
