DURHAM County Under-13s girls outgunned Northumberland by seven wickets in the ECB Women’s U13 County League B Division at Alnmouth & Lesbury.
Northumberland were all out for 75 in just 24.2 overs, with Imogen Stout grabbing five wickets for just 12 runs. Layla Tipton hit an unbeaten 33 from 53 balls in leading Durham to victory in 17 overs, backed by seven runs apiece from Katy Barrett and Hollie Forsyth.
Eppleton stayed top of Group Three in the Durham Cricket Board Under-13s Central Division League Cup after a 37-run victory over local rivals Hetton Lyons.
Rain reduced the match to 10 overs a side at Lilywhite Terrace, but Eppleton still posted an impressive 75-0, as Callum Smiles retired not out on 33, backed by 24 not out from Layla Tipton and 13 from Kristian Jefferson.
Lyons made a good start in their chase, scoring 25 off two overs, but once both openers were dismissed wickets fell frequently. Jack Hutchinson (16) top-scored, while Taylor Vaut added 13. Smiles (2-2) and Tipton (2-2) were the pick of the bowlers.
Victory over Philadelphia on Wednesday will clinch top spot, and a semi-final place for the Church Road side.
