SEAHAM Park and Murton both secured their first wins of the season in the Readers Durham Cricket League Second Division on Saturday.
Alex Ludlow (5-25) starred for Seaham Park as they defeated Peterlee by 25 runs despite posting just 115, when skipper Andrew Laidler’s fine haul of 4-38 did most of the damage.
The Newtowners were then skittled for 90, with Chris Moran top-scoring on 33.
Mohammed (35) and Qayyoum (31) top-scored as Murton fought their way to 145 all out against Silksworth, as Kieran Laws (4-29) and Michael Waterson (3-29) impressed with the ball.
But Silksworth got nowhere near in their reply, with Aamer Mahfooz stealing the show with four wickets for just 19 runs as the Sunderland side were bowled out for just 77.
Durham City continue to dominate at the top after they brushed aside the challenge of Shildon Railway.
Aussie Nick Maiolo turned in a virtuoso performance by grabbing 5-18 in 11 overs as the Railwaymen were shunted aside for 113 in 40 overs. Maiolo then cracked six fours and a six on his way to an unbeaten 61 as the City slickers cruised to a nine-wicket win.
Whiteleas reinforced their challenge with a maximum points haul from a nine-wicket humbling of Langley Park, who were bowled out for just 52.
Ryan Hale (4-5 from six overs) and Rob Scorer (3-19) caused all the mayhem.
Bill Quay stayed in joint second spot as they defeated hosts Ushaw Moor by six wickets, Anoop Pai’s four wickets clearing the way for Quay to unlock the hosts with an unbeaten 67 from Jeff Tudor.
