EPPLETON legend Ken Ferguson will be remembered in the new season.

Ferguson, who died in November was a player, administrator and coach in a lifelong association with the Church Road club.

Ken’s greatest day in cricket was a Senior League clash with Gateshead Fell in 1965 when he took all 10 wickets, including a hat-trick, for the loss of 62 runs.

Talks with the Durham Cricket Board have brought a renaming of the Under-15s Central Division League Cup to the Ken Ferguson Memorial Trophy.

The competition – featuring Eppleton, Sunderland, Philadelphia, Burnmoor, Hetton Lyons, Chester-le-Street, Sacriston, Durham City and Washington – will start on Monday, April 28, with the final to be played at Eppleton by June 6.
