Fabulous Foster inspires Dawdon’s derby success

CIARAN Foster’s tremendous knock of 66 inspired Dawdon to a nine-run derby success against Ryhope A in the Benfield DCB U18 Junior League’s South East Division.

Foster and Hughes (36no) led the Green Drive lads to a daunting 151-2. Ryhope gave a good account of themselves in their reply, falling just short on 142-4. Alex Catcheside hit 45, but Hughes again shone, snaffling all four wickets for just 23 runs.

Seaham Park managed 81-5, with Robinson firing 39 not out. Liam Irwin bagged 3-10 then hit an unbeaten 53 as Castle Eden cruised home by 10 wickets.

Wearmouth were beaten by just 13 runs in a high-scoring clash with Boldon CA in the North East Division.

Craig Pirie (44) helped CA total 143-8, then a magnificent, undefeated 77 from Scott Houghton got Wearmouth close on 130-8.

Whitburn posted 135-0 but still lost. Ryan Parkin (68no) and Matthew Mallaby (57no) had the Villagers on top, but Felling responded with 137-1 to win by nine wickets as Adam Donaldson (62no) and JackTilley (56) shone.

Hylton (86-4) fell well short after Bill Quay made 167-4.

In the Central Division, James Wilson’s unbeaten 55 steered Chester-le-Street to a 10-wicket win after Sunderland were skittled for 56.

Jack McBeth (61) and Sean Tindale (47no) helped Hetton Lyons to 127-1 before battling Burnmoor were restricted to 96-9, with Victor Spencer grabbing 3-9.
