DURHAM are still seeking a first LV County Championship Division One win of the season after rain ruined their push to defeat leaders Middlesex on the final day at Chester-le-Street yesterday.
The visitors, following on and still 148 runs behind, were due to resume on 90-2, but the wet weather prevented play starting and the umpires called off the match at 12.30pm.
It was the second successive week that Durham’s final day had been washed out – having suffered the same fate against Notts at Trent Bridge – and means the defending champions have now drawn six of their opening seven matches and have yet to register a win.
Durham are back in NatWest T20 Blast action tomorrow, visiting Edgbaston to take on Birmingham Bears (6.30pm). The Jets move on to New Road to take on Worcestershire in the T20 on Saturday (2.30pm).
H Surrey’s Kevin Pietersen will make his T20 bow against Essex tomorrow, while Andrew Flintoff should play for Lancashire against Yorkshire.
