Durham Cricket Board Under-17s suffered two defeats in two tough days against Lancashire.
They succumbed by a big margin in the ECB County Championship, then lost in the ECB County Cup.
In the first match, Durham bowled Lancashire out for 146 in 68.2 overs, with Josh Couglhin the pick of the bowlers, grabbing 4-14 while Fezain Hussain and Piers Davidson both bagged two wickets.
Durham lost openers Alex Simpson and Edward Hurst cheaply, but Scott Steel stuck in, scoring 32 from 79 balls, including four fours and a six, but once he was dismissed Durham went downhill and were bowled out for just 108.
Lancashire, who clinched the win on first innings scores, then batted again to reach 151-8, with Coughlin, Cameron Grimwood and Jake Louth all striking twice.
In the County Cup clash, Durham managed 185 in 49 overs, with Luke Henderson, with 52 from 91 balls, and Steel, who hit 52 from 75 balls, leading the way.
Lancashire chased down Durham’s total in 45.5 over.
Steel and Cameron Grimwood both took two wickets, with Davidson and Loth also striking.
Eppleton Under-11s landed the Durham Cricket Board Cental Division League Cup by the narrowest possible margin against Chester-le-Street at Sacriston.
Both teams scored a net total of 50 in 20 overs, but the Church Road side progressed into the County Cup after losing fewer wickets.
Matthew Page top-scoring with 27 for Chester, backed by Robbie Dawson (20). Josh Hutchinson was the pick of Eppleton’s bowlers, while Brown, Wilkinson and Anderson also struck.
Josh Hutchinson’s unbeaten 19 then steered Eppleton to a level finish, helped by skipper Edward Brown (12no) and Luke Johnson (11).
Gabriel Hughes bagged two wickets, with Dawson, Paige and McKitten also striking.
