Chance to take up cricket umpiring in introductory taster session

Have your say

The Durham Branch of the Association of Cricket Officials will be running a free introductory course for individuals interested in becoming a cricket umpire.

The course is free of charge and will be held on Sunday, November 6 at the Emirates Riverside in Chester-le-Street (10am-1pm).

The session will provide a quick overview of an umpire’s role and is targeted at individuals and ex-players interested in learning, understanding and applying the laws of cricket and hopefully becoming future umpires at any level of the game they choose.

Those interested in taking umpiring further can attend a qualification course Level 1 course early in the new year.

Anyone interested in attending the introductory course or needing additional information about the Level 1 course should contact Keith Sutherland on 0191 3887336 or email

A free introductory scoring course will be held this winter. Email for details.
