Hylton held firm to win the Heineken T20 Smash Final by one run in dramatic fashion yesterday.

Skipper Alan Mustard hit 55 as Hylton posted 149-8, with Alex Ludlow taking 3-30, then he grabbed 5-31 as Seaham Park fell agonisingly short, bowled out for 148. John Sample top-scored with 36.

Meanwhile, Chester-le-Street were crushed by Merseyside club Northern in their Royal London National Club Championship semi-final yesterday.

Andrew Bell and Mark Turner both bagged three wickets in Northern’s 209-8, but Chester were then skittled for 93, despite Cole Pearce’s unbeaten 34.
