DURHAM bowler Usman Arshad has been handed a penalty under the the ECB’s discipline code.

Arshad was reported by umpires Peter Hartley and Mike Burns during Durham’s NatWest T20 Blast defeat to Leicestershire last Friday, following a “Level One breach of the code (bowling a fast short pitched ball and/or accidental high full pitched ball that results in the bowler being disallowed from bowling any further in that innings)”.

Arshad was taken out of the bowling after just seven balls of his allotted four overs.

The penalty is a reprimand but will remain on his record for two years. The accumulation of nine or more penalty points in two years will result in an automatic suspension.

H Durham batsman Calum Macleod has been named in the Scotland squad to meet Holland in three one-day fixtures at Titwood in Glasgow on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.
