Durham Under-15s eased to victory by 41 runs in a low-scoring affair against Cumbria at Keswick Cricket Club in the ECB County Cup.
Durham skipper Adam Khan lost the toss and Cumbria elected to field.
The home side struck early when Patrick Cooper was caught without scoring, soon followed by Sol Bell being caught for one, however a 51-run partnership from Khan and Jonny Bushnell steadied the ship for Durham.
Once Khan (30 from 76 balls) and Bushnell (21 from 48 balls) were out, though, Durham slumped to 104-7, losing three wickets for no runs.
Jonathan Pears gave Durham hope with a knock of 16, while Sam North stuck around with eight from 37 balls before Durham were bowled out for 126 in 46.3 overs.
Adam Shaw (4-27) was the pick of the bowlers for Cumbria on his home ground.
Cumbria started brightly in their reply, scoring 16 in the first over, but Aaron Feroz came to Durham’s rescue with a wicket in his first over, as he went on to snaffle 3-23.
Cumbria lost four wickets for just 10 runs before Durham eased home in 30.5 overs. James Hindmarsh grabbed 2-12 from nine overs, while Elliot Hearn picked up 3-11.
Eppleton Under-13s outgunned Sunderland by seven wickets at Ashbrooke in the DCB U13 Central Division.
Sunderland posted 92-6, led by Kyle Hutchinson’s 28-ball 29, while Edward Brown took 3-9. Layla Tipton’s unbeaten 33 from 24 balls, backed by Josh Hutchinson (18), Hollie Forsyth (15) and Jake Pratt (14), steered Eppleton home in 10.5 overs.
