CLEADON SC strengthened their hold on third place in the table with a hard-fought 4-2 home win over Hartlepool.

David Wheeler, Bell, Richard Harrison and Danny Nixon all netted.

Lowly Harton and Westoe CW claimed a valuable point with a 2-2 derby draw at Boldon CA, rallying from two goals down to level. David Hopper and Craig Rolph had Boldon in control, but McManaman and McMahon hauled Harton back for a draw.

Willington sprang the surprise of the season as they outgunned leaders Whitehaven 3-2 at Hall Lane – only their third win this campaign. Player-manager Trevor Ball led by example, scoring the opener, with David Taylor and Lee Holloway also on target, while Carl McGrady and James Parker replied.

Jarrow routed Annfield Plain 5-0, with doubles from Andrew Barclay and Dean Patten backed by Peter Kirkham.

H Peterlee Town exited the Northern Alliance League’s Bosch Power Tools Cup with a 3-1 loss to Wallsend, despite Kevin Osmond’s goal, while Murton outgunned Hebburn Reyrolle 5-2 in the Pin Point Recruitment Combination Cup.
