WARREN Baister’s Commonwealth Games dream ended in disappointment this afternoon.
The Sunderland heavyweight lost out on a split decision to Canadian Samir El-Mais Canada in Glasgow.
Baister edged the first round but got the vote of only two of the three judges.
El-Mais then stepped up his work in the second round and got the vote of all the judges.
Baister needed to dominate the final round but could not find the clean shots he needed and El-Mais did just enough to seal a place in the semi-finals and guarantee at least a bronze medal.
