Lavender wins in fine style

PROMISING Wearmouth Boxing Club welterweight Steven Lavender produced a scintillating performance to halt North Road Gym’s Taylor Hunt in the second round in front of a partisan Stanley crowd.

Boxing in his opponents’ back yard, Lavender landed solid clean punches throughout the opening round.

A mixture of head and body combinations forced the referee to give Hunt a count. Sensing an early finish, Lavender then stalked his man for the remainder of the round, again landing clean straight shots as well as his trademark left to the body.

Going into the second round, the Ford Estate man showed he was in no mood to show any compassion toward Hunt. A straight right hand and forced a second mandatory count, before a final onslaught prompted the referee to save Hunt from any further punishment.

This was a rematch between the pair after a close first contest, which Lavender had prevailed on points, although, this time he proved his superiority in emphatic style.
