Hetton Town Boxing Club are enjoying a happy Christmas after two of their finest young prospects starred on the national stage, writes Graeme Anderson.
Nathan Milburn has won the National ABA senior novice class A at 57kg, while Shauna Taylor has become the Class A 34-36kg National ABA Schoolgirl winner.
It means that, with the recent success of Jordan King, who became the 86kg UK CYP champion, Hetton Boxing Club now has three national champions training at their gym.
Milburn beat Shafioliah Sahak of Hayes Boxing Club in Portsmouth, while 12-year-old Shauna overcame Cody Byrne from the Heart of Portsmouth ABC.
Coach Paul Quarmby said: “They both did fantastically well and with Jordan also becoming a national champion, it’s great news for Hetton ABC. A big thank you has got to go to boxing coaches Marty Pattern and Alan King for all the hard work they’ve put in.”
