GLENN Foot’s English championship fight with Ahmet Patterson is OFF.
Patterson, the defending title holder and favourite, cried off today after feeling “poorly”.
It left the Foot team devastated with no time for a substitute fight to be arranged at the 02 Arena.
The Sunderland fighter travelled to the capital last night with trainer David Binns and woke up this morning looking forward to the battle of the undefeated welterweights which was doubling up as a British title eliminator.
But Team Foot were contacted to say the 27-year-old Londoner was ill and was not fit to box.
A statemement from the promoters read: “Ahmet Patterson has had to withdraw from his English Welterweight title defence against Glenn Foot before today’s weigh-in after contracting a viral infection.
“The East Dulwich star has been unable to train for the last week and following medical advice has pulled out of the fight.
“Patterson v Foot will be rescheduled and a new date and venue will be announced.”
