WASHINGTON sprinter Aidan Turnbull will head to Holland for the biggest challenge of his fledgling athletics career next week.

Turnbull has been named as one of nine athletes in the Great Britain squad for the Inas Open European Championships at Bergen Op Zoom in Holland from June 11-15, with 19 other countries involved in the competition for athletes with learning disability.

Turnbull, whose personal best times include 7.45sec for 60m, 11.35sec for 100m and 23.99sec for 200m, will hope to stake his claim for a slot at next year’s Inas Global Games.

He goes into the championships in good spirits, having helped Britain win a gold medal in the men’s 4x200m relay, and a silver in the 4x400m, at the Inas World Indoor Championships in the winter, alongside Robert Ferrol, Marcel Hodge and Owen Miller, to the delight of the UK Sports Association for People with Learning Disability.
