Sunderland Harrier Gavin Massingham finished third behind two Kenyans in the Hong Kong Shek Mun 10k Road Race.

Racing in temperatures of 27 degrees and humidity of 90%, Massingham, working in Hong Kong as a chemist, clocked a personal best in his second appearance over the distance.

The former North East 1500m and Northern 800m champion, recorded 33min 20sec behind clear winner Josphat Kiprono Menjo (29.40) and Willy Tanui (33.16).

Massingham’s performance was 88 seconds faster than he recorded in the Clearwater Bay Chase in January.

Ian Dixon warmed up for this Saturday’s North Eastern Cross Country Championships at Sedgefield by winning the Albert Park parkrun in Middlesbrough, in a time just outside his best, despite strong winds. The Sunderland Harrier recorded 16.43.
