TINY Emily Powell made her racing debut in the Riverside parkrun at Chester-le-Street and astonished many of her fellow competitors with her performance over the 5k course.
The seven-year-old Sunderland Harrier finished well up the field, covering the course in a remarkable 26min 14sec.
Her father Andy, who finished fourth in the City of Sunderland Half Marathon on Sunday, said: “Emily has been pressing me to race since she joined the Harriers.
“So when she turned seven in March, I let her do the parkrun. She thought it was great and her time really surprised us, we are really proud of her’’
“She is involved with the Harriers’ fundamentals group and she has fun trying most events at the club.”
