Travel experts Snaptrip have collated 10 locations and landmarks in Europe which were the inspiration behind some of Disney’s most iconic films.
5. Tangled - inspired by Mont Saint-Michel, France
Disney film Tangled is set on the island of Mont Saint-Michel, a well-known French island and monastery located in Normandy, surrounded by both water and forestry.
6. Sleeping Beauty - inspired by Neuschwanstein Castle, Germany
Built in 1869, the Neuschwanstein castle is one of Germany’s most iconic attractions. Located in the village of Hohenschwangau, the towers and turrets served as inspiration for Sleeping Beauty’s home. It’s also the inspiration behind Walt Disney’s Disneyland castle.
7. Hercules - inspired by Porch of the Caryatids, Greece
The film’s famous song I won’t say I’m in Love is set among the iconic columns of Porch of the Caryatids.
8. 101 Dalmatians - inspired by Regent’s Park, London
The story takes place in London, and was the first Disney animated film to be set in a specific place. Regent’s Park appears numerous times throughout the film. It’s first seen as the place where Pongo and Roger meet Perdita and Anita.
