The emergency services helped a woman back to the right side of a bridge's barrier in a call out last night.
Police and members of Sunderland's HM Coastguard team were called to the Queen Alexandra Bridge over the River Wear at 10pm yesterday.
A spokesman for HM Coastguard said: "We were paged this evening to assist the police with a person on the wrong side of the railings on the Queen Alexandria Bridge.
"On our arrival the person had been brought to safety and into the care of the police."
The RNLI's inshore lifeboat was also called out as part of the emergency service response.
