Sunderland certainly is a city to be proud of - and you've been flying the red and white flag as the City of Culture judges arrive.

Winning the City of Culture 2021 title could boost the North East's economy by more than £100million - and visiting judges will today tour Sunderland's sights before the final decision is made.

We have plenty to be proud of in Sunderland - and all of you have been backing the bid by sharing pictures of your favourite places, using the hashtag #WelcometoSunderland, which has been trending nationally on Twitter.

Paisley, Stoke, Swansea and Coventry are the other shortlisted cities. The City of Culture winner will be announced next month.
