She will be watching the programme go out on ITV at 8pm at the Travelling Man in Boldon, where she will sing a few songs before the bar puts the show on its screens.

Jessie will be surrounded by mum Sandra, 53, who works on the reception of Sunderland Foot Clinic in Southwick Road, dad Kevin, 52, who runs his own french polishing business, Designer Wood Finishes, brother Jae, 18, an apprentice, sister Natalie Basilisco, 32, a tax accountant, and her husband Emilo, also 32, who is a teacher at Jessie's school.

Her turn on the show follows a process which started almost a year ago, when her singing teacher Julie Miles was approached by the programme's team as they hunted out talent.

The first video submitted showed her performing Little Mix track Little Me, with her last audition tape sent in recorded as she was in her pyjamas and plaits ready for bed to make it in for a deadline set by the show's team.

It is just the latest in a line of talent shows she has entered, from TeenStar to Gentoo's Genfactor, where she was a finalist in last year's competition, with her first performance on a stage made when she was just nine.

She also performed as part of the entertainment at St Peter's and the Town Moor during the Tall Ships Races visit to her home city last week

Sandra - who is has been sworn to secrecy about the outcome to tonight's recorded show - said: "She's been singing since she was little and she just loves music.

"The first audition for this was last year, when we were approached at the time of the six weeks holiday, so it has been quite a long process.

"They gave her and the others a list of songs by a list of acts to chose from, but then at times she had to pick another because someone had already chosen the one she went for.

"They told her to go away, look it up on the internet and practice before she gave it a try herself.

"She will be one of 12 to appear on the programme tonight."

The 90-minute show will be online to watch back via itv.com after it goes out live.
