Police have renewed calls for help to find a driver who left a woman with serious injuries in Sunderland.

The collision happened on Tuesday, January 24, at around 5.50pm on Hylton Bank in South Hylton. A 28-year-old woman was crossing the road when she was struck, causing serious leg injuries.

Officers initially appealed for the driver of a red Audi A3 to come forward. The driver has since been spoken to and it has been established the car was not involved in the collision.

It is believed a silver Renault Clio was also in the area at the time and police are keen to trace the owner. The Clio was possibly a 2001 - 2005 Dynamique model with a sunroof, black trim around both bumpers and along the doors, with 5-spoke alloy wheels.

The owner, or any witnesses to the collision, are asked to contact Northumbria Police on 101 quoting reference 830 240117 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
