Police are continuing their investigations this morning after a woman was airlifted to hospital following a hit-and-run incident in Sunderland.
Officers issued a witness appeal yesterday afternoon after the 26-year-old was hit by what they believed was a pick-up truck in Chester Road.
The incident happened at about 3.26pm and police say the truck did not stop.
The woman was taken to hospital by Great North East Air Ambulance. Her injuries are not said to be life threatening.
Police said a witness reported that the pedestrian may have been a victim of a theft in the moments before the collision.
