The Metro service between Bede and South Shields is back up and running - but commuters are told to expect delays

Metro bosses earlier tweeted that Go North East was accepting Metro tickets on bus services 27 after a signalling problem suspended the service.

They had there was no timescale as to when then the problem would be fixed, and said their engineers would advise when they find the cause of the problem.

However, the company's twitter account has now confirmed that trains are now running between the stations, however they are subject to delays of up to 15 minutes.

Elsewhere on the system, there are no trains between Benton and Monkseaton, due to planned works.

Replacement Bus 900 is in operation, but commuters are told to expect delays.
