The truth about tree

Have your say

It has been brought to my attention by a resident that people had been informed that the discontinuation of the Christmas Tree on the grassed area opposite the Blue Bell was brought about by myself and colleagues.

Fulwell Ward Conservative Councillors would like to assure residents and visitors alike that this is not the case.

The decision was arrived at because of health and safety advice brought about by the fact that the tree, over the past number of years, had been affected by the wind and on several occasions nearly blown over.

It was found that the tree could not be inserted into the ground far enough to ensure its upright position even after it was pegged. The reason was because there were utilities under the ground which precluded that remedial work.

I would suggest that people should, in future, get their facts right before passing on incorrect information to the residents of Fulwell
