The government is short-changing the people in the north

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, that's the philosophy of just about every government in the civilised world, but those wise words mean nothing to this Conservative party.

So how disappointing but not surprising it was to read in last Wednesday’s Echo that public health services in Sunderland face grant funding cuts of nearly £6million.

Councillor Dr Geoff Walker labelled the proposals as “short sighted” noting the potential impact on the health of Sunderland residents.

Everyone knows preventative work helps keep people out of hospital and what is often more time consuming and much more expensive than medical treatment, this will impact directly on the health of this city’s residents.

The government constantly bang on about how much money they are putting into the NHS but everyone knows how liberal they are with the truth, for every £10 they put in they have already taken £20 out.

The people from the north are constantly getting short changed by this appalling government.

I think it’s time to get rid of them before they have us all in the workhouse.
