Sharon Hodgson's Brexit survey results should '˜be taken with a pinch of salt'

The survey conducted by Sharon Hodgson MP on the views of Sunderland residents on Brexit needs to be taken with a pinch of salt.

Only 623 residents responded and of them 66 were from outside the city.

That leaves 557 responses from within Sunderland which compares with the 134,324 votes from residents in 2016 and is therefore only 0.41% of the total votes cast in the official referendum.

Any claims made on the basis of a minuscule sample conducted a full two years after the referendum cannot be seen as valid.
