Nurses are much missed

Have your say

Sunderland Royal Breast Cancer patients were very upset to find in December 2014 that the Breast Cancer facilities has closed.

Another blow occurred to patients when the specialist nurses, Caroline Tweedy and Michelle Derbyshire, who had supported breast cancer patients for many years, left Sunderland Royal to start a new job at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Gateshead, at the beginning of last month.

As a recovering mastectomy patient, I was very lucky to have the support of one of these wonderful nurses, Michelle Derbyshire.

Michelle was always there to assist and support me in whatever way she could. She always returned my calls, she was compassionate and committed to all her patients.

I always felt Michelle was listening to my concerns and always reassured me and had a solution to my query.

Thank you Michelle. You are greatly missed. Best wishes in your new job.

Shirley William,

Forever Grateful
