Move Sunderland Eye Infirmary Hospital to Vaux Site

The city council's development company is actively seeking private and public interest for its two building concept for the Vaux site.

The site was never going to be singularly driven by private enterprise, demonstrated by 20 years of no takers.

The first rule of major regeneration has always been attract a key public building to anchor development.

Sunderland has few winners.

Our Eye Infirmary Hospital is an exception with national prestige but it needs major investment.

Hospitals of this nature are not as costly as highly serviced district general and acute hospitals.

Has anyone the vision to put this regional and nationally renowned facility in the heart of our town centre?
