Life in the UK is not that gloomy

Have your say

Rod Hepplewhite paints a gloomy picture of life in the UK.

This, despite record levels of employment and a huge drop in unemployment.

There has also been the introduction of the national living wage.

From April 2017, 31million people will have had their income tax cut.

It means a typical basic rate taxpayer will be paying more than £1,000 less income tax than when the Conservatives came into Government.

Another 1.3million more of the lowest paid will have been taken out of tax bringing the total to four million taken out of tax altogether.

One sobering point for Rod to contemplate.

If things are as bad as he says why did the Conservatives win and in the process condemn Labour to its third consecutive General Election defeat?
