Brian Rix was born on Sunday, January 27, 1924, in Cottingham, Yorkshire.

He was one of the great British comedy actors who appeared in British films, television and stage shows including Dry Rot, Not Wanted On Voyage, Night We Dropped A Clanger, And The Same To You, Don’t Just Lie There Say Something, Simple Spymen, Celebrity Squares, Night We Got A Bird, Reluctant Heroes, Let Sleeping Wives Lie, Men Of Affairs and Stand By Your Bedouin.

Brian was the subject of This Is Your Life on two occasions in 1961 and 1977 with the late Eamonn Andrews.

He wrote two autobiographies, My Farce From My Elbow and Farce About Farce and was a great campaigner for Mencap.
