My wife and I travelled to the North East two weeks ago to watch our New Zealand All Blacks team take on Tonga at St James Park in Newcastle during the Rugby World Cup.
We stayed in a hotel in the Sunderland area, where unfortunately my wife took ill. We were advised to go to the nearby Bunny Hill NHS walk in medical centre. I wish to acknowledge the expert and thoroughly professional treatment my wife received from the nurse who initially examined her to the doctor who further examined and quickly diagnosed her condition and got her on a speedy road to recovery, which allowed us to continue on our travels through the UK.
We hear a lot about the short falls of your NHS, as we do with our own public health system in New Zealand. All we can say is thank you to all concerned at Bunny Hill. Your expert help and attention prevented a potential serious situation developing further.
We didn’t get to see what we wanted during our stay in the Sunderland/Newcastle areas but the people of your areas we have found to be the most welcoming, helpful and friendly people we have met here in the UK in many visits.
Thank you all once again. It is our intention to put the North East at the top of our list of places to come back to on our next visit.
Kevin and Sharon O’Halloran,
