Fears over new fad

I may be lagging behind in this subject but I feel that I must comment on the way businesses are trying to get children to boost their coffers.

Many years ago the breweries tried got their claws into younger drinkers by bringing in ‘Alco pops’, which with their popular children’s flavours such as orange, apple, Irn Bru and other flavours that enticed children into the adult world of drinking.

This led to more adult drinks such as beer, whisky and other flavoursome tipples all filling the breweries and also the Government’s tax pockets with extra money.

Fast forward to the introduction of e-cigarettes, which once again have flavours such as toffee apple, pineapple cherry, strawberry, vanilla milkshake and even alcohol-related flavours, all there to entice children.

However, these contraptions also contain carcinogens and other hazardous chemicals, including diethylene glycol, which is found in antifreeze. This is as bad as ‘real’ cigarettes which as we know contain arsenic, cyanide, formaldehyde, used by funeral directors for gluing bodies together.

I say these flavours will lead to children vaping just for the flavours, but I believe that it will lead them to try the real thing – cigarettes, cigars and even, heaven forbid, hookahs, because the Government is losing tax money thanks to these e cigarettes and they need new smokers as the older ones die off.
