Everywhere is a mess

Have your say

After the recent letters in the Echo about the state of rubbish bins outside the main shops at Hylton Castle, I thought I would let you know what the situation is at the moment.

The bins are filled to overflowing most of the time, with the rubbish spread all over the ground around the bottom of the bins and sometimes extra bags are tied to the tops.

Recently, when I was in the Co-op, a van came to empty the bins and put new bags in.

However, nothing was picked up from the ground around the bins and the rest blows all over the ground outside the shops.

When it is windy it blows all over the ground, through the alley between and there is always lots of rubbish against the fence by the path by the church.

I’ve lived here for nearly 50 years and it’s always been a clean, tidy estate but now it is the worst it has ever been.

The bins are only emptied about once a month now, which isn’t enough and the ‘litter pickers’ only come around about every three weeks or so.

I thought our council tax money was supposed to go towards keeping the state clean – we definitely deserve better.

What is going to be done about this?

Everyone is fed up with the mess.
