Events are good for city businesses

In response to Tory councillor Anthony Mullen, who said he would rather spend the £50,000 on potholes in the Barnes area than give it to Scary Spice.

Back in March the Government announced it was allocating £360,000 of taxpayer’s hard earned cash to fix the potholes in Sunderland.

If that money ever turned up, I haven’t a clue as I’m not privy to that information, so that £50,000 was well spent with the prospect of watching the city packed to the rafters, and businesses booming watching the Spice Girls.

As I said the council said the £50,000 will be recouped with permit allocations and parking fees, so get out there that night, Mr Mullen, and observe and support our great city and local businesses.
