Diamond days at Mills

Have your say

This year would have been the diamond anniversary of the institution that became Janet Frasers and Brian Mills in Hendon Road, Sunderland and there is no better time to have a reunion.

A letter was placed in the Sunderland Echo in June and as a result of the fantastic response received, a date and venue has been booked.

Can you remember the terminals, VDU, query handling and telephone ordering and the ‘special’ buses that brought everyone to and from work every day?

Can you remember first, second and third bell?

And can you remember dancing to ‘Nellie the Elephant’ at the Christmas party where the supervisors served your lunch (it was the only time they broke into a sweat)?

If you can answer yes to any of the above, then you are invited to a reunion which will give everyone an opportunity to catch up with old friends, colleagues and (heaven help us) the ‘management’ and even worse ‘work study’.

You will be absolutely certain of having a laugh, remembering old times and friends and the many characters that made Janet’s and Brian’s the fantastic place it was to work.

The reunion will be held on Friday, October 9, at The Barnes, Sunderland.

Tickets are £10 and will include music, a hot and cold buffet.

Anyone interested, please contact me on 0191 5280788 or 5846347. The final date for confirming numbers is September 10. The event is a ticket-only on a first-come-first-served basis.

Remember to dig out your old photographs.
