I read with interest about the resignation of Dr Dave Smith from his £175,000 Chief Executive post (August 18).
I don’t think a bridge, which we should have had years go, and the Keel Square warrant such a huge salary.
I hope the council just goes with a management option. Council tax payers deserve value for money. With the thousands of pounds saved, perhaps the city centre could be spruced up.
The council seems to think the city centre merely consists of High Street, the Bridges and Market Square.
What I constantly hear at the bus stops in Holmeside and Vine Place are complaints from people regarding the dangerous and filthy pavements.
And may be we might get some back lanes and roads resurfaced.
