Care beyond call of duty

Have your say

My wife has had many visits to Sunderland Royal Hospital over the years, as an outpatient, and being admitted.

The dedication and dignity shown has always been exemplary, both by staff and consultants.

Her recent admission was for five weeks, when she sadly passed away. The staff, sisters and doctors went beyond the call of duty, making sure my wife got the best of care in her final days. They were also very supportive towards me, when I required it.

Many letters in this column, refer to poor food, lack of attention etc, but from my experience, this is not so.

Some of these dedicated nurses work 14-hour shifts. They are to be highly commended for their dedication. I’m publicly thanking you all.
