THE manager of an award-winning practice has looked back on the wonderful experience of lifting an Echo trophy.
Christina Todd, who is from the Dr Kishore Shetty and Partners practice which is based in Pallion, re-lived the night the practice won a category at the Sunderland Echo Best of Health awards last year.
She spoke to the Echo as we begin our search for this year’s winners.
We want to hear from Echo readers by the score. We want you to put your favourite doctors, dentists, nurses – and every other category of the health profession – in the running for a deserved honour.
Christina described the awards as “a brilliant night. It was a fantastic experience with a wonderful atmosphere and lovely entertainment.”
Dr Shetty and his team won the GP Practice of the Year section and Christina added: “It was such an honour for the team and for the effort that is put into the practice.
“It is getting something back and showing that the public do appreciate you. It was a massive morale boost for all the staff.”
The nomination for Dr Shetty and his team last year said: “All the doctors are exceptionally friendly and put you at ease, the surgery is clean and well-run.”
Now, we are on the lookout for this year’s winners. We need entries in categories which range from carer of the year, community nurse of the year and dentist of the year, to clinical support and mental health nurse of the year.
There is plenty of time to put forward your favourites in the health service.
All entries must be received by March 20. A panel of judges will meet around a week later to begin the difficult task of narrowing down the field.
They will draw up a shortlist in each of our categories.
And all those who make it to the shortlist will be invited to the glittering finals night to be held at the Stadium of Light on Thursday, April 16.
We want you to nominate your favourites in each of the categories listed on this page.
