The North East is in for another windy day as the Met Office issued a Yellow weather warning.

The Met Office is reporting gales of up to 25mph today.

It says: “Another very windy day with gales in places. Variable amounts of cloud with some sunny periods, especially further east and a few showers, mainly in the west where they will turn wintry on hills.”

It is set to feel cold with maximum temperatures predicted to be 6C.

The winds are set to ease a little by tonight, with clear periods at first followed by clouding by midnight as a band of rain and sleet moves southward, turning to snow over the Pennines.

The minimum temperature tonight will be -2C.

The overnight rain, sleet and snow is expected to clear southwards tomorrow leaving a mostly dry and bitterly cold day with sunny periods at times.

Tomorrow will be breezy but not as windy as today, with a maximum temperature of 3C.
