X Factor's Lola Saunders set for theatrical debut in UK tour

Singer Lola Saunders is set for her theatrical debut.

The 21-year-old, from East Boldon, made it to the live finals of the X Factor in 2014.

Now it’s been announced that she’d joining the cast of Save The Last Dance For Me on a UK tour.

Lola will star in the musical alongside Blue’s Antony Costa.

She’ll be the second South Tyneside star to share the stage with Antony, after Joe McElderry starred alongside him in The Who’s Tommy at Blackpool Opera House last year.

The show is from the creators of Dreamboats and Petticoats and is made up of the biggest songs from the 1960s.

Lola will star as Jennifer alongside Antony as Milton.

Save the Last Dance for Me follows two teenage sisters through the summer of 1963 as they embark, for the first time without their parents, on a holiday to the seaside.

Full of freedom and high spirits they meet a handsome young American who invites them to a dance at the local US Air Force base. But young love and holiday romance is never as simple as it sounds, and the sisters soon realise that while the world around them is still watching itself in black and white, life and love can be much more colourful.

Lola is currently in rehearsals for the show in London and it kicks off its run at the Theatre Royal Windsor on April 6.
