An X Factor favourite will visit Sunderland to get the city lit up for the festive season.
Fiesty Italian Andrea Faustini will take to the stage on November 12 to press that all important switch-on button.
The singer was part of the reality TV show last year, making it to the final.
As part of the switch-on evening’s entertainment, he will serenade the crowds with some songs.
Andrea will join Coun Barry Curran, mayor of Sunderland, and other special guests on the night, with the main switch on event taking place at the new Keel Square.
The mayor said: “Our annual Christmas switch-on is a great way to begin the countdown to Christmas and to show what our city has to offer.
“The festive celebrations are a fantastic family occasion and I’d like to extend a warm welcome to everyone. There is so much to see, do and enjoy again this Christmas in our city I hope as many people as possible come along to join in the fun.”
If you’re planning on heading along to enjoy the winter fun, the entertainment will kick off at 6.30pm on the night.
Before Andrea, who launched his debut album Kelly this summer, takes to the stage, you can enjoy performances from this year’s City Sings winners and St Anthony’s Secondary School Choir.
You can also satisfy your stomach with a range of delicious street foods, with vendors setting up on the Crowtree site from 5.30pm, and finish the night with a bang and watch the sparkling firework display.
Parking will be free after 3pm in council car parks, and access to Keel Square will be from High Street West. St Mary’s Way and the Crowtree site.
