TODAY is D-day for X Factor hopeful Lola Saunders, pictured.

Tonight’s show will reveal whether or not the East Boldon singer has been chosen to advance to the ITV series’ live shows as a wildcard act.

If her mentor, Geordie pop star Cheryl Fernandez-Versini, has chosen to save her, she’ll go on to compete with the other finalists for the top prize.

Speculation is high that 20-year-old Lola, a fishmonger at Latimer’s in Whitburn, is one of the four lucky acts set to make a return after she was sent home last Sunday.

Rumours have been rife after eagle-eyed viewers of spin-off show The Xtra Factor spotted her in the background as Cheryl’s contenders – Lauren Platt, Chloe Jasmine and Stephanie Nala – were seen rehearsing together in the contestants’ house.

Tune in to ITV at 7.30pm tonight to find out if Lola makes the cut.
